I’m joining the Design Council’s network of design experts

I am excited to share that I’ve been selected to be part of the Design Council’s new multidisciplinary network as an associate expert. I’m joining a diverse network of individuals and corporate partners that represent a wide variety of skills, expertise and experience across the UK. I’m looking forward to contributing towards the Design Council’s aim of making life better by design, through tackling current social, environmental and economic challenges; with a particular focus on the built environment.

The Design Council’s values align closely with ours at Transition by Design, we’re both passionate about design that serves communities and wider society. I’m excited to explore how TbD’s work can both influence and be influenced by this exciting network of innovators and change-makers.

I’ve recently been working as part of the team to redevelop Oxford’s iconic Covered Market. Along with my colleagues at TbD and lead-architects Gort Scott, we ran an engagement process to explore how the redevelopment of the market could act as a catalyst for reaching Oxford City Council’s strategic objective of making the city centre more representative of the city as a whole. We led participatory workshops, where we gathered local residents and groups to envision how the market could better represent and be welcoming to the diverse spectrum of Oxford’s communities.
