We’re recruiting for an Architect, and a Part II Architectural Assistant on 6-month contracts.

We’re on the hunt for a full-time architect and a part-time Architectural Assistant to join our architecture and design Co-operative based in Oxford, could this be you?

Both roles are for a period of 6-months and are focused on the Meanwhile in Oxfordshire project, an ambitious county-wide collaboration to bring hundreds of empty and under-used buildings back into community use. You’ll be working with our architecture team and other partners to turn waste into wonder and use the best of your ingenuity and creativity to create vibrant new spaces and homes for purpose-driven organisations in Oxfordshire.

Role One: Architect

  • Position: Architect
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week (5 days)
  • Salary: £30,010 pro rata
  • Contract: Temporary – 6 months

Essential Skills & Competencies

  • A Chartered Architect, registered with ARB. 
  • Experience and accountability working in the UK as a project architect from Work Stages 0-7
  • High level of competency and experience (1 year post qualification experience minimum) with a working knowledge of ArchiCAD and representation software
  • Technical knowledge of low energy and ecological design and able to produce planning, tender and construction drawing packages independently 
  • Experience in meanwhile use, commercial fitouts and retrofit projects
  • Experience in working effectively with small budgets and grant funded projects
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Experience in managing yours and others time
  • High level of proficiency in using Adobe Suite and Indesign in particular
  • Strong drawing and representational skills

A little about you

It is essential that you have experience in architectural practice across work stages 0-7 is essential; and an interest in meanwhile, temporary or pop-up development is an advantage. The project is already in progress and you’ll need to be able to up-tools and get stuck in quickly.

We need someone with excellent communication and representation skills and who is confident to work independently as well as within a team, including managing project budgets, deadlines and time. We’d like you to be able to engage with clients, project stakeholders and colleagues with a confident, professional and friendly attitude. 

You will be proficient at using ArchiCAD, Sketchup and the Adobe Creative Suite and will be quick to adapt to using new forms of software and remote working tools. 

Role Two: Part II Architectural Assistant

  • Position: Architectural Assistant (RIBA Part II)
  • Hours: 22.5 hours per week (3 days)
  • Salary: £25,000 pro rata
  • Contract: Temporary – 6 months

Essential Skills & Competencies

  • Minimum RIBA Part II or equivalent

  • Experience in architectural practice (ideally in meanwhile use, commercial fitouts and retrofit)
