We’re recruiting for a Makespace Oxford Project Coordinator (maternity cover)

We are recruiting maternity cover for the Makespace Oxford Project Coordinator role.

A little over a year since its launch, Makespace Oxford is the city’s first truly affordable community working and making space.

We’ve built an environment in which the makers, fixers, thinkers and doers who work in our hub space on Aristotle Lane can thrive. We need a brilliant person to take charge of this ongoing and exciting challenge, could that be you?

We are looking for an energetic, organised and sociable person with experience of project and building management, business development, a natural flare for hosting and bucket loads of elbow grease.

You’ll be responsible for supporting and growing our existing community of 20+ tenant organisations and hot deskers. From finding tenants to executing building improvements to buying tea-bags, you’ll be the conductor that holds the orchestra together.

You’ll be part of the Transition by Design team and also play a key role in the Makespace Oxford consortium, made up of Transition by Design, Aspire Oxford, the Community Action Group Project. You’ll be skilled at tactfully managing different priorities and working in varying team structures.

You will be the first point of contact for our vibrant group of makers, fixers, growers, writers, campaigners and many more. You’ll be giving tours to visitors and prospective tenants, singing our successes and looking to how we can make continual improvements to support your tenants and our mission.

Our team is full of people who like a challenge. We excel at finding neat solutions to sticky problems and spotting opportunities others might miss. We’d love you to be a have-a-go kind of person and we’ll support you in any way we can from skills and training to holding a ladder.

Makespace Oxford is full of alternative ways of doing things and we’d like you to have an appreciation of the day-to-day struggles that small social enterprises, start-ups, workers cooperatives and charities face.

Ideally we’d also like you to be Interested in the bigger impact that Makespace Oxford is trying to make, of leveraging empty and underused space for community benefit and creating a community of solidarity.

If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you.
