Andy Edwards
Researcher & Project Designer
Andy has architectural training and practices as a strategic designer, taking pride in solving problems others can’t. He is an experienced project manager and technical advisor to community-led housing groups. Andy is now a past member and employee of Transition by Design, but is involved with the current team as a consultant on a project-by-project basis as a Researcher & Project Designer.
As a passionate social entrepreneur, Andy has co-founded a range of successful purpose-driven community businesses, including Transition by Design. In his current role as a director of Makespace Oxford CIC, a spin-out from Transition by Design, he is dedicated to finding creative community uses for empty and underused buildings. Andy also brings a passion and specialist knowledge of ecological design and the use of waste materials in building; he has led research projects on community-owned and innovative renewable energy technologies and is a founding member of Kindling Housing Cooperative.
