Project ERIC (Energy Resources for Integrated Communities) is a new initiative aiming to bring solar PV power and smart energy storage to up to 100 homes in Rose Hill, East Oxford. T/D have initiated Project ERIC in collaboration with Moixa Technology, Bioregional, Oxford Brookes University and a range of other parters. Part-funded by Innovate UK, it represents a £1.2m investment in Rose Hill over the next two years.
Project ERIC aims to demonstrate how distributed storage in a community can be managed to reduce average peak grid load by 65% and increase self-consumption of local PV energy across the community by twofold.
The major focus of Project ERIC will be to design, develop and test in a real community installation the software platform that will deliver a range of services to communities and the National Grid.
